Employee Responsibilities

The Planning and Inspections Department is comprised of two employees. 

The Director serves as the Code Enforcement Officer, Building Inspector, Planner, and Safety Officer. The Director is responsible for:

  • Reviewing construction plans
  • Inspecting work performed by both licensed and unlicensed contractors
  • Ensuring construction meets the minimum requirements of the North Carolina State Building Codes

  • Enforcing the Town’s code of ordinances to ensure the health, safety, and general welfare of the public
  • Implementing the Town’s Safety Program and ensuring compliance with OSHA Guidelines.  

The second employee, a Collections Clerk, is responsible for:

  • Performing duties associated with the Town’s cash collection
  • Issuing permits in the absence of the building inspector
  • Scheduling inspections
