The Code Enforcement and Inspections Department is comprised of two employees. The building inspector, who is responsible for the review of construction plans, inspection of work performed by both licensed and unlicensed contractors to ensure that the construction meets the minimum requirements of the North Carolina State Building Codes. The inspector is also responsible for enforcement of the Town’s code of ordinances to ensure the health, safety, and general welfare of the public. The second employee, a Collections Clerk, performs duties associated with the Town’s cash collection, issues permits in the absence of the building inspector, and is responsible for scheduling of inspections.
