The Town of La Grange operates a 750,000 gallon wastewater treatment plant facility. The Wastewater Treatment Plant was built in 1978 with minor enhancements completed in 1991, and has served the Town well over these years. The wastewater treatment plant is staffed by three employees, including a Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent who is responsible for the day to day operations of the wastewater treatment plant.

Re-Use Project

The wastewater treatment plant treats wastewater collected from the Town’s sewer system to re-use standards, meaning that once the treatment process is completed, the water can be reused for irrigation type activities. The Town of La Grange is in the process of installing the necessary infrastructure to re-use this reclaimed wastewater to irrigate row crop land. This re-use project will reduce the discharge from the wastewaster treatment plant by more than 90 billion gallons per year. The re-use of this water will significantly reduce nitrogen and other byproducts from being discharged into an unnamed tributary of Moseley Creek. This is an extremely environmentally friendly solution that is funded in part by grants from the Clean Water Management Trust Fund and Lower Neuse Basin Association, and matching funds from the Town of La Grange.
